Our next show will be the 37th Corvallis Fall Festival, September 26 and 27, in Corvallis, Oregon. We have been assigned Booth 158 near the area by the stage. The festival hours are: Sat. 10-6 and Sun 10-5. This is a wonderful show with fantastic artists, great food and entertainment. So come visit us if you can.
We are Pam & Erin, a mother-daughter creative team living in Eugene, Oregon. We have been growing Whimsey for almost five years, selling in states around the Pacific Northwest at art & craft shows, in retail shops, galleries, at the Eugene Saturday Market, and now online at Etsy.
The designs you see here are totally original, and one-of-a-kind. We use several wire weaving techniques with tiny gauge wire to create bezels, or settings, around stones. We like to combine techniques, mix it up, and keep ourselves and our work fresh.
We were both sort of “Jills-of-all-trades” throughout our lives, creatively. Pam began with oil painting in the 60’s and then tried other creative pursuits like batik, stained glass, and a little jewelry making. Erin took wire bending classes in college at the University of Oregon. She began by making pieces for herself and to give to friends as gifts.
A love of interesting stones rests at the heart of our work. This affection-bordering-on-obsession was passed from mother to daughter over many rock & treasure hunting trips throughout Erin’s childhood. Now we do our rockhounding indoors at gem shows instead of in the deserts and mountains, but the thrill is definitely not gone.
We appreciate the beauty of sparkly, faceted gemstones, but you’ll notice we lean more toward earthy stones and matte finishes. Picturesque jaspers, colorful agates and lively thunderegg slices are some of our favorites. Stones with depth. Stones with “something going on.”
The Whimsey, our signature necklace design, combines multiple strands of seed beads and chain, wire-wrapped asymmetrical accents, hammered silver circles, and the most interesting centerpiece/pendant stones we can find. They are all one-of-a-kind.
The designs you see here are totally original, the culmination of five years of experimentation, design work and a few good classes. We discovered early on that we would never be “production” jewelry artists – you know, when you sit down and make 25 of the same earring… We use several wire weaving techniques with tiny gauge wire to create bezels, or settings, around stones. We like to combine techniques, mix it up, and keep ourselves and our work fresh.
We use only the highest quality wire, chain and findings (clasps, etc). Never any base metal. EVER! Most of our work is in sterling and 99% pure silver, but we do offer a smaller selection of 14K gold-filled pieces as well.
