I am a self taught clay artist. I have been working in clay for almost 20 years. I began making figurative clay sculpture the year that I became a grandmother. For the last 8 years I have been making tile, now concentrating on tiles for Craftsman Style homes.
I create Arts and Crafts style tiles for Bungalows. My tiles are earthenware and terracotta relief tiles. I use clay that comes over on a barge from Italy. I make the original tile, then I make a plaster mold so that I can reproduce them. Tile factories use very powerful presses to press clay into the molds. I have an unusual way of pressing my tiles, I stand on them.
I do all my glazing by hand with a brush.
My tiles include Alphabet tiles, number tiles as well as a number of accent tiles which take there themes from nature.
